Time to get in touch with my feminine side! Clannad and tears abound!

I remember seeing screenshots of Sunohara back during the time when the first few episodes of Clannad were airing. They showcased his hilarity, and sometimes the Kawaii Uguu girls Key is known for. This was back when anime wasn't shit, and most series that came out were pretty decent, so I downloaded the first five or so episodes, and I loved this series. I came for the Sunohara and kawaii girls, I stayed for the heartbreak.
Sunohara is the best girl.
Clannad is an Irish term that means family, which is the key theme of this game/ anime. It emphasizes the importance of it, and how it isn't always easy. The game is also sad, something Key is of course known for in their games. The series lead is an unhappy young man named Tomoya Okazaki, and being the lead he has every girl (and some guys) after his dick. Here's your basic cast of the game:
The lead of the game, Tomoya's mother died when he was young, and his father injured his shoulder prior to the series, destroying his dreams of being a basketball star. Since then he's a basic delinquent, skipping school,  going out with Sunohara, and avoiding being home other than to sleep. He hates his father, and every girl loves him.
The best friend anyone could ask for! He's largely an idiot, and is hilarious. Sunohara use to be a soccer player, but got kicked off the team for fighting. He spends his days sleeping, and pissing around with Tomoya.
Nagisa Furukawa- The cannon love interest.  She has been held back a year due to sickness, and as a result has no friends. Tomoya befriends her, and they attempt to reform the Drama club together. She is Tomoya's wife in Clannad After Story, and dies giving birth to their child Ushio. Since this is too depressing even for Key, if you collect all the lights she lives. In the Clannad movie she dies cannonwise, and lives in the Afterstory anime. She looks like a cockroach, and I hated her route.

Kyou Fujibayashi- a Tsundere who spends her whole route trying to hook you up with her sister. She's a Tsundere, and is one of the better choices,  her route being her sister Ryou's up til the last few days. Kyou is violent, regularly hits people with her scooter, and has a pet pig. Still, actually one of the better choices in the game. In Afterstory, she becomes a teacher.
Ryou Fujibayashi- A timid girl who never speaks her mind, her end is considered a bad end. She loves fortune telling, and Tomoya. Unable to cook, and only really appeals to moe fans who want to protect a kawaii uguu gal, I hate her. Playing through her route and Kyou's til you break up with her is a chore.  She works in a hospital in Afterstory, and Kappei's route.
Kotomi Ichinose- My first Waifu! A brilliant girl who spends all her time reading books, can cook extremely well, and lives alone. Clearly the best choice, her hobbies are reading books, cutting out phrases in books, and poorly playing her violin. She's extremely socially awkwards, and is childhood friends with Tomoya, though he forgot about her. When she was young, her parents died, and she's lived alone since. To add to this heartbreak, she doesn't appear in any other routes, meaning she's alone in the library unless you choose her path.;_; She studies in America in AfterStory
Fuuko Ibuki- A first year student who appears carving stars to give out as invitations to her sisters wedding. She's an oddball, constantly spacing out, and talking in first person. She's revealed to be an apparition, as her body is in a coma. In her route, everyone forgets about her when she wakes up. Ouch.
Tomoyo Sakagami- the most realistic relationship in the game. They meet first when Sunohara refuses to believe a girl could be as strong as her, and eventually they becomes friends, and later lovers. Tomoyo has the worst name, as it's one letter away from the leads name. She becomes the student council president with Tomoya's help, to save the Cherry Blossom trees. She comes from a broken home, her parents divorced, and her brother threw himself into traffic when he couldn't take it anymore. Her brother's sacrifice helped bridge the gap, and the last time her family was happy together was viewing the Cherry Blossoms at the school. She save the trees, at the cost of her relationship with Tomoya. At the end they get back together, with Tomoya working at a repair shop, and Tomoyo making him lunch everyday. She gets a sequel in the form of Tomoyo After :It's a wonderful life.
Mei Sunohara- Sunohara's sister. Appeals to the lolicon crowd, and is of course in love with Tomoya.
Mise Sagara- manager at Sunohara's dorm. She gets a route, because why not ?
Akio Furukawa- Nagisa's awesome dad. Probably the coolest character in the game, he runs a bakery with his wife, and enjoys playing baseball with the neighborhood kids.

In any case, the anime does a decent enough job combining all the routes into one, with the ending of all of them save Nagisa being a friendship route. Tomoyo's and Kyou's routes don't do that so well, so they received OVAs for their routes. Still the anime does a solid job of combining humor with drama, and slice of life. The balance is nearly perfect- Sunohara bring the fun and humor, while the girls and Tomoya's father bring the drama. This is considered one of the sadder animes, and it's easy to see why.
Afterstory as a whole is downright depressing. It mainly deal with Tomoya's withdrawal into himself after Nagisa dies, as Nagisa's parents raise Ushio til he can fix himself. In the good end however, they live happily ever after, same an the anime does, after a reset end.

I haven't watched the anime since it aired, both Clannad and AfterStory. However I did play the game recently, so here's my ranking of the routes:
God Tier: Sunohara end!
High Tier-Kotomi, Tomoyo
Mid Tier- Kyou,After Story
Shit Tier- Ryou, Nagisa, Misae, Yukin, Kappei

So basically I liked half the game, though it was free, and I held down the control key through the boring parts. Here's some numbers because autists love that shit:
Clannad Visual Novel:6/10
Clannad Anime: 9/10
Clannad After Story: 8/10

Best end

Now It's time to talk about Tomoyo After. I hated this game. I really did. I played it for an hour, and that was all I could manage, and Tomoyo was my favorite official route.

In this game Tomoya works in a repair shop, and lives in apartment with Tomoyo's younger brother, an illegitimate child of Tomoyo's father, and Tomoyo comes over to fuck everyday. I've only ever played Tsukihime, Clannad, Fate/Stay Night, and this, do all visual novels with erotic content have this much sexings ?Half the cgs are erotic, and they use this one way too much:
This one has many variations, though the scene always involves her voyeur younger brother walking in on them sexing, and Tomoyo begging for his shota dick.

I really wanted to like this game, I did, but it was just too much sex, and no real plot. I guess it was cool to see Tomoyo in college and older, and Tomoya with a better girl than Nagisa, but I really couldn't enjoy this game. I gave it two hours, and called it quits.

Yeah I don't even know what to give this game. If you want to see the T team fucking with hot pixels, you'll love this game. Otherwise stay away.
