Rucky Sta! Or Lucky Star for you non Weaboos.

Well it's time to talk about a series I love for all the wrong reasons! Lucky Star time! Oh yes!
It has names and everything! Less work for me!
Lucky Star is a slice of life series with moe everywhere. It's otaku fan pandering bullshit, made by the bane of many old school anime fans- Kyoto Animation! Despite all that I love this series. Why ? Is it the cute girls doing cute things ? Maybe! It's mostly due to this being a reference anime, and the aforementioned cute girls. It took me quite sometime to warm up to this series. It aired against Gurren Lagann, which everyone knows is the superior series. I thought the first episode was stupid- three high school girls talking about how to eat a chocolate coronet ? Dropped! However i did go back to it almost a year later and loved it. A super catch opening theme certainly helped things:

Anyway Lucky Star is revolves around four high school girls- Konata, a tiny Otaku with super athletic skills, and blue hair. Kagami- a videogame and light novel fan, besties with Konata, has long purple hair. Tsukasa- a timid shy girl, Kagami's sister, has short purple hair. Finally there's Miyuki- a big titied glasses girl who's super smart and rich. This series mainly follows their exploits in everyday life, with anime references abound.
Konata was raised by her blue haired father, who plays porn games, watches anime, and is a typical lolicon. These traits, aside from the lolicon thing passed onto Konata. She spends most of her time playing Final Fantasy XI, erotic games, reading manga, and going to Japanese events to guy pron comics. Truly she is the ideal waifu for all otaku, which is exactly what otaku want! She even works in a cosplay cafe, cosplaying Haruhi (they share Aya Hirano as a voice actor, and both series were animted by Kyoto Ani.) Truly this is the anime that should stand above all other anime.
Kagami and Tsuakasa's family run a large shrine, so they can slap Shrine Maidens into the series. Kagami is also a sterotypical Tsundere, complete with twin tails. To off balance her, Tsuakasa is shy, and you want to protect her. Miyuki has the glasses fetish, big tits, and clumsiness thing going on. Yep, fetishes for all!
Despite all my cynical views, I really do enjoy this show. I really believe that it's more enjoyable when you've seen many anime series. It's fun to hear the references, and know where they're coming from, and it's cool to see girls doing what you enjoy. I have heard it compared to to Seinfeld, and I don't think that's far off. I love the anime series, though the manga, not so much. I feel the adaption surpasses the source material, especially when the manga later introduces more similarly drawn looking characters with little explanation. I hope someday we get more Lucky Star, though I won't hold my breath.

Anime-9/10
Manga-7/10
