I'm watching anime that's currently airing! So here's a blog about it Why not ?

It's been a long time since I felt compelled to watch a currently airing show, mostly due to hating every new season more than the last. The one or two shows I was interested in I usually waited til it was complete, and watched it then. However, I missed watching shows as they aired and discussing them with /a/, so it was time to get on that uncomfortable horse with dragon dildos on the saddle, and talk about them.

Since I just watched season one, and the first four episodes of Valverave the Liberator, I'm going to lump them together. The plot feels like every Sunrise show ever- Robots ? Check. Youth who pilots robot ? Check. Outer space conflict ? Check. Brokenly overpowered suit? Double check. This show can be described as Gundam Seed + Code Geass + Infinite Ryvius (Lord of the Flies in space). It feels more like Gundam Seed than any of the others though, complete with T.M. Revolution theme song.  This series has vamipirism though, oh yes:
My dick is hard already.
The plot starts off like Gundam Seed ( or the original Gundam for you old fags) A nuetral colony in space has been developing Weapons! The bad guys, the Dorssians come in to steal said robot, but not before our hero Haruto gets in, and sees this screen:
Why not ?
When you select you become an immortal UN-aging Vampire who can transfer your spirit to anyone you bite! Neat! After beating all the bad guys, the fist victim is the One Man Army from Dorssia who attempted to kill Haruto, and take the Valverave. His real name? L-Elf !( yeah everyone in Dorssia has hyphenated names like this) L-Elf is basically Lelouch, except with physical abilities, making him even more broken. Too bad they gave Jun Fukuyama's voice to someone else, or this would be perfect! Anyway in L-Elf's body he fights off the Dorssians, who label L-Elf a traitor. What follows is the students of the school where the first episode has taken place decide to become their own colony! They break away and become their own nation, with only two adults.
The Valveraves have some rather unique designs.
The series is pretty generic and formulamatic, but it's fun, so I'm along for the ride. I love how the Dorssians have functional robots, the power powerful mechs are essentially battle ships with arms, and the grunts are small, hard to hit, and have giant shields to protect their bodies. There is even tiny holes to fire your weapons at! Those don't sell model kits, so we get the Valverave series, all pilots by vampire school children. What else could you want ? The first season ends with the gang moving their colony onto the moon, and the head of the Dorssian army stealing a Valverave, and revealing that the higher ups in Dorssian all have the curse of Valverave. Intrigue! Now onto season two!
The Backstreet Boys in their new look.
Season two involves the main military crew and the Valveraves with their pilots heading towards earth, and predictably land in Dorssian territory! I'm pretty underwhelmed thus far, as Gundam and Gundam Seed, and probably some other shows did this much better. I've only watched the first four episodes, since this show is still airing. It could get better. Turn into the Code Geass Clone I yearn for please!

Valverave the Liberator Season 2(1-4)-5/10

Onto the rest!

Saumrai Flamenco
When I saw the opening of this show, I expected a Tiger and Bunny Rip off. What I got was oh so much better! The show begins with Hidenori Goto, a local Police Officer finding a naked man in the alley, Masayoshi Hazama. Masayoshi claims to be a superhero, and after some hijinks, Hidenori lends him a shirt, and helps him fashion a skirt out of a plastic bag. They return to Masayoshi apartment, and it turns out he's a model, and a lover of Tokatsu. Encouraged by the memory of his dead grandpa, he decided to take up fighting crime as Samurai Flamenco- The strength of a Samurai and the passion of a Flamenco dancer. Masayoshi reveals he got his ass kicked by a jay walker, and decided the solution to this was to get naked I guess.

Being a cop,  Hidenori tells him to stop it, as he isn't a fighter, and it's also against the law. As the series progresses, Samurai Flamenco is trained by an actor from his childhood to fight, who played the Red Hammer in a tokatsu show, teams up with a Super Heroine Flamenco girl! She's revealed to be an idol, who manages to guess Samurai Flamenco's true identity. Youtube vidoes of Samurai Flamenco make him super popular, and Masayoshi even gets a role in a Tokatsu show. This is a great premise! I love it! Why can't more shows be this original ?

Samurai Flamenco 1-5 -8/10

Since Ippo has been running as a manga series for over two decades without a drop in quality, and the anime adaptions managed to surpass the manga, I had high hopes for Ippo. It did not let me down.
Hajime No Ippo Rising
I'll sum up Ippo the best I can- Makunouchi Ippo was bullied, but refered to a boxing gym by Takamura, an amazing local boxer. There he meets Aoki, Kitamura, and later Itigaki, who are all training to be the best boxers they can be. Ippo becomes the champion in his weight class with his signature Dempsey Roll. This series is awesome and hilarious, and why don't you love it ?

The series begins with the story of Ippo's father's death. He died at sea rescuing a man on his ship, and Ippo kept waiting for him to come back, unable to comprehend his death. Eventually he realizes his dad won't be returning, however he still aspires to be like him.The first match of the season is Ippo fighting a mountain of muscle fisherman boxer, much like Ippo, and vows to stop his Dempsey Roll, and with the championship belt. After a hard battle, Ippo wins. Since we need some character development, Ippo's harem visits a resting Ippo, however he sleeps through the whole thing. Next is a match for Itigaki- made difficult by him binge eating, and one for Aoki. Aoki is a moron who fights in a very unorthodox fashion, and his opponent is a by the rules fighter. What could happen ? Nobody knows!

Ippo has always been my favorite Shonen, the characters are fun, the boxing matches are awesome, and the tension in the ring is always high. If you've watched Ippo thus far, there's no reason not to watch this. The Theme song sucks though.

Gundam Buld Fighters
Gundam Build Fighters is more proof Gundam is dead. I have suffered through all of Gundam 00 and attempted Age, both of which make Seed Destiny look like a masterpiece, as it was at least watchable. The premise here is the characters build models, and battle them, with Gundam references abound. The lead Sei works in a model shop his father owns, and is an expert builder, but not so hot at fighting. Luckily he meets a mysterious red haired man named Reiji who says he'll be there whenever Sei needs him. Naturally, this means he will pilot the suits to victory, despite having no idea what he's doing. Reiji even claims to be from a distant planet, and can vanish from either world to head to the next when he chooses, thanks to a treasure he found.

I really did want to like this, but watching kids build and battle models is so monotonous. I love Gundam models, and Gundam as a whole, so I really had some expectations. The cast is meh, aside from Reiji. I suppose if you like seeing modified versions of existing Gundams battle in a tournament, than this is the show for me. D-D-D- DROPPED!

Kill La Kill
I know everyone faps over this shit, I can only assume due to the kawaii female lead, but I hate this show. I couldn't even finish an episode. Ugh. It's made by Gainax, who can't make anything decent outside of Gurren Lagann and Evangelion, so I should have known this would be ass. The story begins with a fat nerd stealing some super powered school uniform, and the getting his ass kicked by a stronger guy. He wasn't attractive, so I knew he wouldn't be the lead. So it's onto a cute girl with black hair and a red streak. She's carrying a giant metal case, and gets jumped by kids. In typical anime fashion, she kicks their asses. They repent, and their older sister kicks their asses. Next the older sister and the black haired cutie run together through their wacky town, to their even wackier school! Since this is wacky, the black haired cutie draws her weapon, half of a giant scissor, and challenges some chick to a fight, since she thinks that she might know about the other half of the scissors are. D-D-D-DROPPED!

I get why this is popular, its wacky, and lolXD so randum! It's painfully generic, loaded with cliches, and there's nothing to keep me tethered. Screw this crap, anime is dead. It becomes even more aparent when you look at the next season's line up

I guess I'll read books or take up archer or some shit. Goddamn this is the worst looking season I've ever seen!
