Whoa-oh! Oh Angel! Time for a Fatal Fury Blog! Let burn the passion that fires your soul!!

Have you ever loved something that wasn't particularly amazing, but it really appealed to you and most people can't understand why ? No, not your horse faced girlfriend, I'm talking about the Fatal Fury TV specials and movie!  I absolutely love them, and have seen them about a hundred times each. I initially rented them at Hollywood video, and fell in love. I've owned them on VHS and DVD, and I rarely buy anime. I love them, and re watched them yesterday. Now it's time to share my love with you!
From right to left Joe, Terry, Mai, Andy
Fatal Fury is based on the fighting game series from SNK, but I've only ever played one game in the series, Mark of the Wolves on Dreamcast. Which I obviously bought because of my love of the anime. It's an anime based on a game, so you wouldn't expect too much, especially those of you who watched the Street Fighter II V TV series. You would be wrong, and I'll kick you ass if you disagree. Now let's get down to the characters.

Terry Bogard- The lead, a muscular pretty boy who everyone loves. He refers to himself as a lone wolf, often traveling alone.
Andy Bogard- Terry's younger brother, more serious and angry
Joe Higashi- A fun loving kick boxer.
Mai Shiranui- The token tity monster ninja girl
Seriously, it's a fighting game, what did you expect ? In depth characterization ?

Now that you have your tits, let's get back to Fatal Fury. The first TV Special was:
Legend of the Hungry Wolf. In this special, Terry and Andy's father is killed by Geese Howard! Their fathers master tells them to go train on their own, and come back when they're strong (despite being like 10) to get revenge, because Geese Controls Southtown. Terry grows up to be a pretty man with muscles, and a taste for the drink. While hanging in a bar, he gets into a fight with everyone over a rose thrown by Lily. There he meets Joe Higashi, who knows his brother! Andy shows up, and all three of them enter the King of Fighters Tournament! The winner gets the honor of learning the final technique from their old master! The tournament is of course run by Geese, who tries to kill Terry. Lily gets killed trying to help our team escape. The old master gets hurt by an assassin, and dies, but not before teaching Terry the final technique! As par for course, Terry uses the special move to defeat Geese. They all go their separate ways, and will of course fight another day.

Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle.  Apparently Geese had a half brother, Wolfgang Krauser! After hearing of his defeat, he goes to challenge Terry, who now has a sidekick missing a pant leg named Tony. Terry gets his ass kicked, and becomes a drunk. Andy and Joe hear of this, and feel it's their job to defeat Krauser for him! Joining them is the token tits, Mai Shiranui, a ninja girl! Joe gets his ass kicked by Krauser, and Tony gets the same from some random guy in a bar! Tony's refusal to give up inspires Terry to return to the fight. Terry meets Andy at the Hospital where Joe is being kept, and vows to defeat Krauser. After some help from ghosts, he does!
Fatal Fury : The Motion Picture. Now it's time for the cream of the crop, the movie! A girl named Sulia is being pursued by assasins, sent by her brother Laocorn Gaudeamus. They all of course ends up at a party held by Joe,  and attended by Terry, Andy, and Mai. Along with some other minor characters, they don't matter. After kicking their asses, Sulia tells a story about her brother trying to track down the armor of Mars, said to make a man invincible, and crazy. The gang may not believer her, but if there's a good fight involved, they are so on board. To Rhodes they go! After hearing the legend of the armor, Sulia reveals they are descendants of the original armor bearer, Gaudeamus ( God a must, get it?) The armor was split into six pieces, and her brother had found half. Time to travel around the world! During all this Sulia and Terry begin to fall for one another.
The gang loses fights, and allows Laocorn to get five pieces, but he needs Sulia to find the last one. His team of baddies kidnaps her, and they discover the final piece on an island in the Dead Sea. Laocorn becomes possessed by the armor, and is beyond strong. Due to this, the bond between Sulia and Laocorn intensifies, and Sulia stabs herself in the heart to weaken him, and Terry manages to defeat him. As Sulia dies, the armor becomes a life form of it's own. Laocorn dies, regretful of causing his sisters death. Terry becomes a being of pure rage, and manages to defeat it.
Oh Angel is now playing manually in your head.
What makes Fatal Fury awesome is the animation, and the dialogue. The dialogue is snappy, fun, and light. I love it, they're all very funny when they talk, save for Andy, who's seriousness can lead to even more humor. The animation is fluid, and well drawn, they do not animate like this any more, let me tell you. This may all be nostalgia talking, I did first see all this when I was 13, back in 2001. It's kind of the life I'd like to live, fighting, meeting cool people, traveling, hell yeah, that's the life. I do wonder if this helped inspire my love of G-Gundam, it's the same basic concept, but with robots.

Fatal Fury All of the Above- 99/10!

I love this song so much! Too bad I can't find jack about his other songs.
