Master Grade Gundam Unicorn Footage Edition. Truly she is a beast of an animal to build and tame

I finally forced myself through Gundam Unicorn last month, and bought myself the Master Grade kit to commemorate it. The series was alright, but I watched it while playing FF 14 since this was my fourth attempt to plow through it. The dub certainly helped so my full focus wasn't on it, so I could not have to pay complete attention to a story Gundam has told me many times over and over. War is bad, M'kay? Anyway the kit came with Archer a few days back, but I was busy playing through Jet Set Radio Future.Last night after coming home from another monotonous day of school and coming off an energy drink high, I attempted to build this beast. It was a brutal trial in patience, and sanity.

I knew the gimmick of switching on the Unicorn's Newtype Destroyer mode and essentially moving every panel would make this kit difficult, I just didn't know how bad it would be. I had hopes and dreams of this kit being awesome, what I eneded up with was a mess of glue and broken dreams,

There's about 20 kit trees here, and quite honestly I have no idea how long it took me to assemble. The time blurred together into hours upon hours of suffering. Especially because I was tired, and the kit kept frustrating me. I pushed forward, with pieces breaking and focus fading, until the upper half as complete. Then I slept and resumed completing the kit in the morning. I even applied the stickers! Not the water decals, fuck those bitches side ways. Here's the complete product.

He doesn't look too shabby in off mode, though he doesn't exactly hide his glowing red plastic pieces well. Still, he can barely hold his shield, and the gun will not stay in his hand. I fucked up the ankle, so that's a bit of an issue too. Now let's fire up that NewType Destroyer mode!

It certainly looks cool, but the photos don't show how much of a bitch he was to transform, and how many of his peices are close to falling off. Many pieces are connected by tiny fragile clips that broke for me. The ankle is fucked and held together with glue, and he cannot hold his gun for the life of him. He does have a cool beam saber forearm thing though! Hooray! The panels often pop off while trying to slide them, and the rest of his connected bits with collapse in your hand. It's extremely frustrating. I shattered his arm on the ground in frustration and many times thought of just trashing this kit. But, I persevered, and completed his NTD mode. I really do hate this kit though, it felt like a chore to build, and it was stupidly complicated. I'm beginning to realize I hate newer Master Grade kits, the engineering isn't as solid and feels overly complex. Like Ban Dai wan'ts style of substance, and you to buy multiple kits because yours keeps breaking. I don't think I'll be buying another Master grade unless It's from G Gundam or Altron from Wing. Anyway MG Unicorn gets a 3/10, it looks cool, but what a piece of shit it is.
